How I Became A Professional Organizer

My journey started in 2012 when I arrived in Canada from Ukraine as a caregiver at the age of 22. For four years, I worked as a nanny for a lovely family with two boys—and today, I have two boys of my own!

Four years after landing in Calgary, I moved to Vancouver and began working for a few cleaning clients. I quickly noticed that many of them needed far more than just a routine clean—they needed structure, clarity, and organization. I started offering organizing services alongside cleaning, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.

My inspiration for turning this into a real career actually came from a line in the movie Blended starring Drew Barrymore, where a character mentions being a "Professional Organizer." Curious, I dove deep into the industry. I devoured books like The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and Spark Joy by Marie Kondo, Organizing from the Inside Out by Julie Morgenstern, and Vickie Dellaquila’s Don't Toss My Memories in the Trash. These reads reinforced my core belief: a home should bring peace, and we must learn to let go of items that no longer add value to our lives.

I began by transforming my own living space—sorting through every item, learning the art of letting go, adopting the KonMari folding method for my drawers, and color-coding my closet.

In 2016, I took the leap and joined Professional Organizers in Canada (POC), later completing formal training to become a Trained Professional Organizer.

At first, I worked solo, helping clients transform their spaces and bring calm into their homes. Two years later, I expanded and built a team. Working with a team made a world of difference—not only for efficiency, but also in the magnitude of transformation we could deliver. Watching clients shift from feeling overwhelmed to experiencing absolute relief in their homes is the most rewarding part of my work. We constantly hear, "We should have hired you so much sooner!"

Whether people are facing major life transitions—moving, downsizing, welcoming a new baby, combining households, or preparing a home for market—we step in to make those stressful times manageable.

Today, we have a dedicated organizing team serving both Vancouver and Victoria, complete with handyman services to assist with heavy lifting, fixes, and removals. From full pre-move decluttering and packing to post-move unpacking and personalized organizing, we handle every detail so our clients can walk into a home that feels peaceful from day one.
